Fairly productive day again.

Drew about 20 panels for Lost Kisses #9.

Wrote lyrics for five songs for The Carnage Visors (hope to record tomorrow, we’ll see).

Got the presumed final mixes for slicnaton versus small life form to master.  Hopefully I’ll get those done tomorrow as well.

Got some stuff to work on for mastering Carta.  A song that has unintentional noise on some pre-mixed tracks.  Hope to get it knocked out pretty quickly & shot back to the band so they can do the final mixes for the album.

Got an email from a distro promising money by the end of the week, could be sweet.

Got 3 local gig offers (2 in the next 7 days & one heavy metal battle of the bands?).  We’ll see what happens.

Got an interview back for QRD.

Got some follow up questions from the weekly, I’ll get those answered tomorrow.

Got some info about doing the public access show & am starting to round a few folks up to work as crew.  Nic Slaton brought up the concern of who owns the intellectual property of the materials made on city equipment & I need to look into that.  I imagine that it would either belong to me as the producer (in which case I can give it to the guests) or might be dedicated to the public domain.  Like I said, I need to look into it.

Going to be a busy week trying to make everything happen that I want to.

Slower than I thought.

I finished drawing Lost Kisses #9.  Just got issue #10 left to draw (30 panels left in that one) & then I go into scanning & production.

Working on recording the stuff for The Carnage Visors, taking a little longer than I anticipated.  A lot of the vocals are highly repetitive & chant like & knowing when the break points should be are a bit harder than I anticipated.  Still hoping to finish them tonight

Updated a bunch of the review pages on my website.

Slow & Steady Wins the Race

Well, I got a dozen panels done on Lost Kisses #9 today, so I feel like that’s good.  I might be able to have the stuff ready for authoring by the end of the week.

The new Remora sticker for Mecha came in.  I don’t know how well it really stands up to weather, but it does look pretty cool.

I recorded a beat oriented loop for the Remora’s Hurtless using my nephew’s toy gun.  Maybe it’ll make the album.  I’m pretty far behind in that record’s recording process.

Got some songs from a friend that wants me to sing on his album.  We’ll see how it works out.

Good Days

Good day today.  I got the money from the state for helping to finance the Lost Kisses DVD.  It’s great as I was scared with my state not doing well financially that the money wouldn’t come.

I finished the scripts to Lost Kisses #9 & #10 & I’ll probably print them out & start drawing them tonight.

I also got an artist who is interested in working with me on my western comic.  I’ve seen that he actually has completed projects previously, so things look pretty good.  We’ll see what happens.

I was supposed to help a friend with cleaning up some files for a track on their album.  They sent me a zip file over & it had 124 audio files in it!  So yeah, that’s a project for another day.

Plumerai did a little interview for Boston Garage Bands.  Theirs is episode 43.

I got the info about starting a little public access show here in Raleigh & I need a total crew of five to be able to get a studio show in their production facility (clearly the reason I’m wanting to do it is for access to the facilities).  Anyone in Raleigh interested in helping out on that?  My plan is a weekly show featuring a single band with a five minute interview, twenty minutes of music, & another five minute interview.

The Year Fills Quickly

Sent off the last pack of questions for the new QRD.  I do have a few interviews in that I need to work up & I guess I should send out the info about advertising to a couple folks who might want to swing $10 (current issue banner ad) to $15 (always up with that issue’s articles sidebar ad) for an ad.  If you are among that type of person, give me a shout.

Did some work on Lost Kisses #9 today.  The theme of it is “why my friends’ lovers hate me” & of course there are a lot of reasons varying from me being a jerk to feeling like I’m a threat to fidelity.  It needs a little padding as the story is told in about 30 panels & I want it to be a minimum of 36 panels.

Did a semi-critical listening to Carta’s An Index Of Birds today.  I think people will really like it.  A bit of a cross between Low, Six by Seven, & old Windsor for the Derby.  So maybe it’s my dream album from ten years ago, but it’s still pretty amazing today.  In case you didn’t figure it out Carta looks like they are going to be joining the Silber family.  Nothing is ever 100% I suppose, but it should work out.

I’m looking at the possible release schedule right now & it seems like I need to start pinching a lot of pennies & cross my fingers for a golden goose.  Five releases pretty much up on deck & four other possibles plus a few limited releases sounds like a full year.

Statistics

So I’m going to post early today so I can get myself offline & do a little more serious work on the comics.

I finally downloaded my web stats for January & my “hits” per day are generally around 400,000, but Sunday January 11 & Sunday January 25 my hit stats went over a million.  Maybe it’s robots indexing my site or something.  I feel like I need to research it a little bit because it is interesting if nothing else.  Also potentially interesting to me is 50% of the visitors are using Windows XP & only 9% are Mac & less than 1% Linux (I’m still rooting for Linux, though I’m not sure I’ll ever get such a machine).

Anybody know the process for getting a public access show in Raleigh that doesn’t involve me “googling it” (that didn’t get me the info)?

trying to save some cash

I’m looking into the idea of downgrading my home phone & upgrading my cell phone.  I’m looking towards spending about $15 less a month (doesn’t sound like a lot, but sometimes it feels like a lot).  So I have about a week to decide who my new carrier will be.  I’m leaning towards Sprint because it looks like they’re pretty cheap & get pretty good coverage.  T-Mobile looked good until I saw their nutty coverage map & I mainly need a cell phone because of going on tours.

I finished the questions for another interview for QRD.  Just one more set to finish (about half done, maybe I’ll finish it before sleep).

Not a lot else done to talk about.  Show cancellations & attempts to re-book, the usual.

QRD & some other stuff

I got three of the sets of interview questions off today for the next QRD.  Just two more left to do.  It’s nice to get something done everyday.  So that’s the story there.

Thinking about shopping the collaboration of Small Life Form & slicnaton to a few labels larger than Silber.  I kinda feel like I can’t do much to get a release to people who don’t already know about Silber so I should try to work with another label & it could only help with the back catalog.  I don’t know.  Part of it too is having a lot of releases theoretically coming out & questionable volumes of income to finance them.  If I don’t get a bite I can put it out on Silber of course anyway.

The new Remora stickers are on the way.  I love it when I don’t pay for a rush job but it’s done faster than the rush guarantee anyway.

Trying to get some things situated about the Remora April tour, always more complicated than it seems….

Something done & more things undone

Finally finished drawing Lost Kisses #8.  Now I just need to write #9 & #10 & the DVD is only 40 hours away from done!

Burned the discs for the SLF vs slicnaton & the discs ended up not readable when they got to their destination.  I have never figured out why there is still a problem with that technology.

Started doing a little more work for the QRD interviews for the next issue.  I’m so far behind on that & for no good reason.  The issue should’ve come out in October.

An artist recently turned down working on a comic script with me because of not liking it.  Usually they promise to do it & flake out, but straight out rejection – I’m not sure how I feel about that….

I need a hobby

Just finished my little phase of work on the slicnaton versus small life form project.  As predicted I went through one song really nit-picking to get rid of clicks & left the other three almost unaltered.  It was just taking too long & the results I’m not sure were worth the effort.

There may be a new band on Silber, things should be figured out over the next week or two.

I think I’m starting to go into one of my crazy cycles.  I wish there was a way to avoid it.  I need a new hobby.
