High Action

Still working on the comics.  It seems like I’ll never finish them.  A lot of time spent just staring at blank paper waiting for inspiration.  It wouldn’t be worth the hassle except for the fact that I can’t really not do it.  Though the self-induced deadline so I can get the DVD done is really hard to face.  Speaking of which I’ve finally started to work on my final paperwork for actually getting my grant money, I have to update the paperwork because of there not being as much money from the grant to finance it as I had hoped for/anticipated.

Last night Shaun Sandor made fun of the action (height of strings from fretboard) on my guitar.  I know I have them incredibly high because of my heavy right hand, but I didn’t know it was so much so that people could tell just holding it.  Kinda funny.

snow dessert

So I don’t know why I didn’t get much done today.  Maybe because I spent an hour wandering around watching it snow & another hour trying to come up with some kinda snow dessert built out of cinnamon, snow, & apple sauce (it didn’t work).

I got contacted by Daily Crosshatch about doing a special little promo comic for them.  They contacted me a couple weeks ago, but today I finally got the specs.

I heard back from a bunch of folks that I contacted about the Hotel Hotel & Northern Valentine CDs & I’d thought I was done getting them reviewed.  I read an article by a promoter once about why a professional runs a campaign for six months instead of six weeks & I guess she was right.

missing blogs?

MySpace ate my last blog.  Whatever.

Just finished up sending out some more follow ups for Northern Valentine & Hotel Hotel in case some people might have free time to review since the holidays.  Also sent out the follow-ups for the mini-comics.

Got a little work done in Lost Kisses #7.

Got a few requests for stuff to radio that I need to send out tomorrow.

Read the script to the movie that is going to be using a bunch of Silber music (Hemo).  It’s a little different than I thought.

a little more done

I got a little more work done today on Lost Kisses #8.  Enough that I think I’ll fill out the application for my grant money in the next day or so.

Finished the first draft for Worms #3.  I know that it’s the least popular of the three comics I’m currently working on regularly, but it has a special soft spot for me.  Probably because it’s the only one where I’m not the main character & it makes it more of an escape from reality to work on.

Got an email about some of the Panthan music being used in a film.  Hopefully the ball will start to slowly roll on that & we’ll get some more money/jobs doing it.

Talked to Nic Slaton about doing a studio recording for the small life form versus slicnaton stuff.  The live recording was good, but you can sometimes hear chairs moving & whatnot just a little too often for me to want it to be used as any kind of real release.

confessions of a passive aggressive killer

I got some work done on mastering the Small Life Form vs slicnaton concert.  Still not sure what it’s final home should be.

Got a significant amount of work done on Lost Kisses #7 & a little done on Lost Kisses #8.  I like getting things done.  I’ve semi-convinced myself that something is really going to happen with the Lost Kisses DVD, but we’ll see.

I got contacted by a store saying they were unable to order my releases.  It’s disconcerting because I do have what most folks would consider pretty decent distribution for a label Silber’s size.  I guess I’ve never been in the shop though & can’t be sure how indie their stock gets.

mecha comics

I just finished the script & panel layout for the Mecha comic.  It is a little melodramatic; but what do you want from a story about having an erased youth, a dead girlfriend, & a thirty year old robot anthropomorphized into a best friend.  It makes me think I can write Worms #3 tomorrow & then all of my slaving comic artists will have work to do.  Maybe I’ll start knocking back a script every day & just hope that one day I have a cast of thirty artists to work on them.  Let’s see, if I had all the series that are semi-started going there would be Lost Kisses, XO, Worms, Marked, Aia, Mecha, (R)evolution, & Zombie Kisses.  If only I could make some money & pay the people for their work it could all really start to happen.

Trying to book some shows for early March.  It seems two months out might not be enough time as I couldn’t get my desired date in Pittsburgh.  We’ll see what’s up in the end as there are a lot of different possible routes depending on what falls together or apart.

I got an email from CD Baby saying they deposited the exact same transaction as last week in my account again this week.  Somebody somewhere is trying to get my checkbook out of balance….

trying to stay in motion

Sent out another batch of follow up letters for the mini-comics & hopefully reviews will start to roll in pretty soon.

I got the art & last few audio edits for Remora’s Derivative done & am mailing it to the label tomorrow.

I need to get some things going with touring so I have something to look forward to in life.

Scheduling Mecha

I got the cover art for Remora’s Mecha from Jason Davis today.  We’re going to be doing a little mini-comic to go in the tin with the disc.  It should be pretty sweet.  Of course now I need to write it.

I also got the tins for Mecha & they are thicker than I thought, I could probably fit ten CDs in them.

Sent off Remora’s Derivative to Gears of Sand.  So I should be close to done with that for a few days.

Working on some stuff for re-scheduling the Remora versus Electric Bird Noise sessions & also scheduling a Shaun Sandor, Nic Slaton, Ted Johnson, Brian John Mitchell session.  We’ll see what all happens.

Speed Up So You Can Slow Down

Did some work making the Remora live recording from Tuesday so it’s presentable.  Too much crowd noise at times to be used for certain things, but I was able to edit out the parts where there were glitches from the club not having good enough power.  I guess I’ll do something with it one day.  Also did some stuff for getting the small life form/slicnaton live recording ready for Nic to manipulate a bit.  Once again I’m not sure what the final home for that will be.

I signed up on Discogs for a commerce account at the suggestion of Michael Thomas Jackson & I made a sale today.  So I guess it works.  Sometimes though it feels like I’m getting my fingers in too many pies to keep track of what’s going on.

Got a few more things cooking, we’ll see what’s up.  Still not able to get things going with the comics too well.

improving

So I just had an improv performance of Small Life Form vs slicnaton & it went really well for us never having practiced or even discussed what we were going to do.  I’ll have to see how the recording came out, but I think the show was pretty good.

Worked some today on mastering the Derivative record for Remora.  I keep going back to it trimming songs shorter & doing slight EQ things.  I think it’s done, but I could be wrong.

I found out I have $250 more in payments to my bank account via direct deposit than I anticipated.  It’s nice, but it would have been better if I’d gotten my bank statement & known that before I did all my paperwork for last year.
