Just spent a couple more hours trying to find places to promote Silber music videos. It’s harder than it should be to find active sites that deal with indie labels. I’m finding a lot of sites that seem really cool from 2007. If anybody knows any from 2010, post a comment.
Talked to Aaron from If Thousands & the big news is they’re going back into the studio. This of course also means they are back together as a band. I can’t remember if the breakup was officially official a couple years ago, but bands breaking up is just a natural thing that happens when members get married & have kids & the like. Anyway I’m excited to hear what they’re going to do this time out as it’s been way too long.
Talked to PD Wilder of Hotel Hotel & their album is about halfway done. Looking forward to the results on that one as well.
Trying to stay caught up on my emails to press & radio & it’s a bit hard sometimes.
Talked to Brian McKenzie about doing some recording together eventually. He wants me to write an album built around “Nevada Smith.” I guess I should do it. I mean, it’s probably one of my three biggest hits as far as personal satisfaction with a song. We also talked about some Electric Bird Noise material coming out on Silber.
Talked to my son (Andrew Weathers) about doing some duet recordings during his spring break. Should be fun if not really fruitful. Maybe will shoot a little informational video of our life story (“sometimes your mistakes come back to love you/drone is in the blood”). I need to start practicing so I don’t embarrass myself.
Gott a hard drive mirror software (remember how my hard drive glitched up a few weeks ago? I got a drive to replace it, but have still been living on the old drive’s borrowed time). So I’m hoping to fix that up soon. Then I can load up some new software on the laptop to have portable recording capabilities.
I went into my local Borders & their music magazine selection seemed exceptionally low. No Signal to Noise or The Wire or anything much. Granted a lot of the mags I used to get are dead, but the only two they had in stock that I would even peruse for reviewers to contact were The Big Takeover & Under the Radar. It felt weird.
Wrote two little 4 panel gag scripts for Lost Kisses. Just need to draw them up.
I’m trying to fool around with optical/video feedback & want to try feeding multiple cameras into the input via splitters. Anyone have experiences with that?
